A squad from the Rhode Island-based Newport RFC will be visiting Kinsale RFC’s Snugmore grounds next Saturday, April 21s, to do battle for the 2012 Paul Crowley Cup.
The clubs have been playing one another since 1999, as an extension of the ‘sister city’ links between Kinsale and Newport.
And the trophy they play for is named in honour of former State Representative Paul Crowley, who passed away in 2007, and who was integral in establishing the ‘sister city’ relationships
This year’s Paul Crowley Cup match between the teams gets under way at Snugmore next Saturday from 2.30pm
